Duck Hunting with Central Nebraska Outfitters

Our mallard duck hunting takes place on the North and South Platte Rivers near Paxton. Our location in the heart of the Central Flyway means plenty of birds—and we consistently bag a lot of ducks.
We hunt out of 6 man blinds that sit on the banks of the river—heated and designed for comfort. Typically, we do not hunt the same blind two days in a row, so you'll have the opportunity to hunt a different location each day.
The water depth in the rivers is normally 6 to 24 inches. We have good Labs to assist in retrieving the birds, but if you have your own dog this is a great opportunity to get them some action.
The best hunting is early morning until about noon. We will normally set out a spread of three or four dozen decoys. We encourage the shooting of drakes only, but realize the occasional hen will fall. Steel shot is required.
